Supplier Spotlight - Huntsham Court
Wedding season is almost upon us and I’m counting down the days until we can celebrate love stories once again! In anticipation of the season, I’ll be bringing you some fabulous interviews with some equally fabulous suppliers over the upcoming months. And, to kick things off, we have Jennifer of Huntsham Court gracing the pages of the blog today!
A quintessential English country house in Devon (yet close to the Somerset border), Huntsham Court exudes period charm and endless grandeur. The venue provides couples with the perfect space to really relax and host an epic house party, with 5 acres of picture-perfect gardens, views that seem to stretch for miles and thoughtfully furnished rooms. With a motto of ‘your stay, your way’, you can hire the venue exclusively for as long as you wish! It’s an absolute pleasure to work with the team at Huntsham Court, so without further ado, here’s a little bit of behind-the-scenes...
It's lovely to feature you! Tell us a little bit about Huntsham Court?
Thanks for featuring us! Huntsham Court is an exclusive use, Country Manor House with a unique combination of original period style, relaxed grandeur, all finished off with flourishes of contemporary design. The house is intended to be homely, not stuffy. On entering the venue, you will instantly be greeted by welcoming, comfy sofas, inviting snug areas and plenty of intriguing space to explore! The venue has always intended to be a home from home for guests to host the perfect house party.

What do you offer to couples as a wedding venue?
In one word – Flexibility. Huntsham Court is a no-corkage, no-package venue, giving our couples the complete freedom to build their event from scratch and to ensure their stay suits their needs. We recognise that there isn’t one set way of presenting a wedding, no couple is the same and we want couples to be able to express themselves and their wedding day how they want. The venue is really centred around the principle of ‘your stay, your way’.

What makes you stand out from the crowd?
Aside form the flexibility, the venue is one of (if not the largest) self-catered venues in the UK. Huntsham court can sleep up to 92 guests across its 40, individually designed bedrooms! With this amount of space, it means you get that real house party feel from start to finish, with the vast majority of guests being able to stay the whole weekend. We also don’t have a curfew, so no rushing the resident guests off to bed at midnight. They are welcome to stay up till the early hours, reminiscing with old and new friends.
From an aesthetic perspective, it is definitely the individual style across each room. One key detail that gets picked up on all the time (and photographed on the wedding day) is the twin baths in The Douglas bedroom, most often picked as the couples’ suite.

What does a typical wedding day look like?
That’s the beauty of the venue, no wedding will ever look the same. Every couple will approach their wedding in a slightly different way. Yes, you will have elements of tradition and the usual ceremony, reception and wedding breakfast but there will always be the element of surprise added in somewhere.
The venue will also morph around weddings depending upon season. In the Spring/Summer, couples will make the most of the 5 acres of grounds and outdoor ceremony space at the Dovecote. Receptions will spill out on to the lawns, offering comfy outdoor seating areas, firepits and garden games like croquet.
In the Autumn/Winter the Great Hall is the perfect indoor ceremony location with a backdrop of dark wooden panels, the large open reception rooms invite guests to cosy themselves in front of roaring fires and at the end of the evening you will find family and friends gathered at the wedding breakfast tables, illuminated by glittering candlelight.

What wedding trends do you anticipate for 2022/23?
As per the format of the venue, we aren’t really style led and therefore don’t expect to see too many décor trends repeated. However, we love some of the predicted trends and hope to see them appear throughout the year ahead. We will look forward to seeing more silver touches (reminiscent of the glitter ball theme from a previous wedding), more couples opting to use dried flowers used to decorate the venue and an emphasis on sustainable décor such living tables. It’s such a great idea to use potted plants, rather than cut flowers as it lends itself as a ‘thank you’ gift for those special guests.
What do you love most about being a part of Huntsham Court?
The couples the venue attracts are just incredible! They all come with their own unique vision, so every event is such an exciting journey to be a part of. No event is ever the same, so no event is ever dull, which is credit to the venue and its ethos.
A huge thank you to Jennifer for taking the time to be a part of our supplier series here at Hyland Weddings & Events. We welcome you to view Huntsham Court here and immerse yourself in its grandeur!
