Supplier Spotlight - Glas Events

It goes without saying, the wedding industry is brimming with talented and creative businesses who all share the same mission – to deliver the day of dreams for their couples. As a wedding planner, it is always such a pleasure to work alongside these individuals and work our wedding magic together! With that in mind, I’m introducing you to Stacey, founder of Glas Events on the blog today. Offering anything and everything from Event Management to Styling, Stacey and her team know a thing or two about curating a design-led wedding day that runs without a hitch. So, if ethical luxury teamed with industrial vibes sounds right up your street, I suggest you keep scrolling and delve into the brand that is Glas Events...

What services do you offer couples?

I offer a broad range of services from Event Management to Hire and Styling. For me personally my favourite way of working is to be able to offer a bespoke service, working with couples based on their requirements. As the business has evolved, I am finding more and more that styling and hire is the larger part of my business and I love that my vision is being so well received.

What makes you stand out from the crowd?

I think the thing that makes Glas Events different from so many other companies is that truthfully, we created the business based on ethics and values as well as on a look that we love and couldn’t find anywhere else.

To us the wedding industry can be incredibly wasteful and we wanted to be a part of changing that. All of our hire range is made in house using reclaimed or repurposed materials, or we buy from ethical businesses, artisans and artists.

Our hire range isn’t the cheapest out there, but we are proud of that. Its quality products made to last the test of time.

Aesthetically, I think the thing that makes us stand out is that black really is our default. We aren’t following trends. We are following what we love! We love contemporary styling and are hugely influenced by the rawness of materials in nature and with industrial practises. The merging of these elements to us, the feminine and masculine is just magic.

What does a typical working / wedding day look like?

I don’t really think there is one. Some days I am the Event Manager, other days I am the Stylist and some days I am both. Generally, it means early starts and late nights, lots of creativity, laughter, hard work and the privilege of being a part of someone’s big day, while getting to witness and be a part of the dynamic and creative brilliance of other suppliers.

What wedding trends do you anticipate for 2022/23?

Can I be honest? I don’t follow them. I know that might sound crazy given what I do. But I really believe in order to be creative and authentic I need to follow my gut and what is intuitively awesome to me. So rather than predicting trends I can say what I am looking forward to adding to my range. Expect more sculptural pieces, more recycled glass, and metal. I am hoping to create at least two colour block ranges and I am eyeing up some new pieces and designing in preparation.

How do you provide couples with ideas / inspiration for their wedding day?

I work with couples to find out what their vision is. We are not a business that works for everyone, so I generally find that couples that are eco conscious, care about our planet and are quite creative themselves gravitate towards us as a business. On that basis it’s always an easy relationship and they have chosen to work with us for a reason. They want something stylish, a little edgy, ethical and elegant. Working with like minded people makes it very easy to deliver a cohesive vision.

What do you love most about running Glas Events?

What do I love most? Wow that’s really tough. I love many things. I love being my own boss. I love working with wonderful couples, going to beautiful locations and meeting the most amazing suppliers. I love being free. Free to make decisions about products, the people I work with and being able to work towards a long-term goal. I love for the first time in my life feeling as though I can live authentically and with my whole heart and not compromise on values.

I started this business knowing that I wanted to be part of the change that I think is possible in the world, and I feel that slowly but surely, I am getting there.

It is my long-term goal to work in collaboration with a charity and donate some of our hire proceeds to do some good in the world. I hope to be able to run events for wellness and wellbeing as well as offering creative days for those that need a little confidence boost. I am not quite there yet….. but I am close.

Working for yourself and running a small business is hard, but it is worth it. I hope, very much, that this is just the beginning for me. I have so much I hope to achieve, and it feels like not enough life to achieve it in.
