Real Wedding - Michelle & Tom’s Love Story

With its architectural delights, charming grounds and rural countryside setting, Huntsham Court really was the dreamiest backdrop for Michelle & Tom’s wedding day on Saturday 28th January 2023. It was a total pleasure to work with the newlyweds to bring their vision to life and I couldn’t be more excited to share a snippet of their special day with you on the blog today. So, get scrolling and soak up the romance, as captured by the talented team at Rockrose Photography…

The morning of the wedding day arrived, and Michelle and her team of maids began getting ready – wearing their personalised silk robes, of course! The bride’s glam squad included Hair by Hannah and Amy Elizabeth MUA, where Michelle enjoyed a pamper session with a glass of Prosecco in hand before she slipped into her Suzanne Neville wedding dress and Harriet Wilde bridal shoes. A delicately sparkling hairpiece by Hermione Harbutt completed Michelle’s bridal style – she was wedding day ready! The bridesmaids looked divine in rich merlot red gowns, alongside the cutest flower girls in dainty white dresses.

Guests began arriving at the enchanting Devon wedding venue, making their way into the Great Hall at Huntsham Court where we had worked tirelessly to create an elegant space for their indoor ceremony. The softest chair sashes were styled with merlot ribbon (the colour scheme for Michelle & Tom’s January wedding), complemented with jaw-droppingly beautiful florals by Earth Gallery Flowers. Arrangements of leafy, textured foliage and velvet-soft red and ivory roses adorned the fireplace, while the majestic chandelier added a warm glow to the setting. One of the couple’s close friends, Anthony, had flown in from Athens to play the piano for the bride’s entrance and the signing of the register, as well as one of the bridesmaids who also sang along to the piano during the signing. As a wedding planner, I often find that it is these subtle personal elements that really do mean the world. When Michelle made her way down the aisle, Tom offered a little wave, dressed in a plush navy velvet jacket with a detailed cravat. It was the perfect choice for a winter wedding!

Michelle & Tom’s niece and nephew read a poem during the ceremony, before a surprise saxophonist played their exit music! We had snuck the saxophonist in and hidden him away in the bar, where he could secretly hear the ceremony taking place. As the registrars pronounced the couple’s exit, he appeared and followed them down the aisle – which the groom was not expecting!

Then it was time for that all-important confetti moment. We guided guests outside the entrance of Huntsham Court (where the weather fortunately held out), clutching handfuls of dried petals and ready for the happy to couple to walk through! As guests chatted and mingled during the drinks reception, magician Stephen McQueen made his way around everyone keeping the guests fully entertained. Laser clay pigeon shooting had also been organised on the lawns, along with the Oyster meister serving up the freshest of oysters for everyone to tuck into!

Although Michelle and Tom had originally said they weren’t going to have a wedding cake, their niece and nephew insisted and were given free rein to design the perfect wedding cake. At the end of the speeches, their niece and nephew wheeled the cake into the middle of the breakfast room for the big reveal – and it went down a total storm. Adorned with unicorns, rainbows, butterflies, dinosaurs, volcanoes and palm trees, this was anything but an ordinary wedding cake, it was better!

As the sunset and the night drew in, everyone took to the dance floor to make the most of the epic band, The Revue. Anthony even hopped back on the piano where the newlyweds and their loved ones enjoyed a sing along to see the last of the night out! It really was a one-of-a-kind celebration and a huge honour to work with Michelle & Tom to make it happen.
